In june 2008 members from all of the judo fedeations in the nordic countries travelled to Iceland for a nordic youth and children conference. The conference had a cross-sports perspective and sports as handball, soccer and sailing, among others, were represented. To read more about this conference: click here. At this conference, the judo group descided to start a nordic youth committee. At Swedish Open in Borĺs, 1-2/11 2008, the first meeting was held.
The purpose of the nordic youth committe is first and foremost to exchange ideas about thibgs like how to recruit and keep youths in judo and how to engage young leaders in judo. The committe will also have some shared projects. The next meeting is planned to Denmark in may 2009.
